PMFJI. Val Matison wrote an app to gather and query environmental data for the EuroTunnel. It collects about 300 meg each day, and maintains about 100 gig on line.
He used VFP to create an RDBMS backend. The data is maintained in DBFs. But, the backend converts the logical design the user sees, to a physical design which respects the 2 gig limit per file.
He's a member of UT, sponsors FoxTeach up in Ontario, and wrote an article several years ago in FPA on the design of the backend.
Bon chance!
