Title:
Calling a VFP 6 EXE from FPD 2.5 DOS
Ok, this is a strange one, but here it goes...
A client has requested some failry complicated enhancements to their system, which is completely written in FPD 2.5 DOS.
One of the screens that they want (a maintenance screen) must display an inventory parent-child relationsip, with a bunch of business rules involved.
Call me selfish, but I'd rather have my fingernails pulled out with a pliers, than code this screen in FPD 2.5 using integrated browses / screensets, and the limited tools of that era.
So, the question is, can anyone tell me why I shouldn't write the screen using VFP 6, compile it into an EXE and call it from FPD using a RUN statement? I've tested it on my development machine & it seems to work fine. Of course I'd have to make sure that their machines were running Win95 or >, and were up to the task of VFP.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks!
-Matt
