Whew! Glad that is resolved. I would also liked to have been able to figure out what the problem was, but I think we thoroughly exhausted all possibilities befer resorting to a reinstall.

After re-installing MSDN then and then the SP4, it now all works ok. It would have been nice to truly figure out what it was, but - hey this fixed it. Now on to re-setting my default configurations...
