West Wind Web Connection 3.60 released

enterprise Web development tool for database developers who use Visual Studio®
and Visual FoxPro®. Web Connection is a complete Web application framework for
developing and delivering scalable e-business solutions for browser based and
distributed applications.
The updated version adds enhanced support for SOAP, WSDL and Web Services
in an easy to implement environment. Any class can be exposed as a Web Service
and changes to Web Services do not require recompilation or shutting down
of the Web Server. Services can generate service descriptions in WSDL format.
Wizards simplify the process of creating Web Services, WSDL documents
and Proxy clients to access any Web Service that supports WSDL as well as
those that don't. Other updates include support for SQL Server logging and
Session features, a new Async Web Request manager that facilitates offloading
long requests to other applications/application servers. Additional XML
service features including compatibility with SQL Server® 2000 formats for
serving data from either SQL Server®, Visual FoxPro® or other ODBC data
sources providing a common format for XML data services.
Client tools have also been updated including a rich SOAP client class along
with a generic SOAP method tester that can be used to test most SOAP Web
Services available. Client side data tools allow Visual FoxPro developers
to consume XML data from databases and objects over the Web with minimal
code requirements. Several white papers on the West Wind site document
these features via detailed examples.
In addition to distributed features the Web Connection framework also
includes extensive functionality for building traditional server side HTML
and DHTML based browser applications with features like auto HTML generation
for tables/cursors, rendering of Visual FoxPro forms into DHTML, support
for scripting and easy to use high level features to manage state management,
security and general HTML generation in Web applications. To get started
extensive documentation in HTML Help Format, several step by step guides
and numerous examples are provided.
Web Connection’s object-oriented architecture is open and comes with fully
commented Visual FoxPro source code to learn from and extend the functionality
of the base framework. Several full scale sample applications including a fully
functional message board appliaction are provided with the product. The
object-oriented nature of the framework makes it possible to add new
behaviors without touching original code.
