This message has been marked as a message which has helped to the initial question of the thread.
Since you asked for recommendations:

1) Get a real mouse. The new MS Optical mice (or is mouses correct here... ah, heck ... rodents) are wonderful
2) If you use the laptop for everyday development, get a real keyboard, preferably one that is ergonomic. Carpal Tunnel is not something to mess with.
3) You can install the Developer version of SQL Server on Win2K Pro (I'm running it on my Gateway laptop under Win2K Pro). Unless you need advanced features like Analysis Services or English Query, it will do fine.

>Now for the question. I have Win2K Server in the desktop at home. The notebook came with Win2k Pro. Before I install any software (it still mostly empty as I just got it), should I install Win 2K server in it too, so I can install SQL Server 2000? It is my understanding that SQL 2000 does not install in Win2k Pro. That being the case I would be able to use the one in the LAN server only. But that would preclude working independetly with the notebook. Being this just for testing and learning, woulddn't it make sense to change the OS?
