Yes, Bob, do you make sense. The ODBC driver from MySQL is one the worse ODBC drivers ever written.

The only way you can stop this behavior is the define the datasource in ControlPanel, then to go on it and check the 'Pad char to full length', 'Don't optimize column width' and 'Safety (check this if you have problems)'. unfortunatelly, there is no way to accomplish this in code.
