Interesting idea! I solved this a bit differently. I read in the Excel issues on technet, and found that if the cell contents is the result of some type of function, the problem does not appear. I placed the memo data in another, hidden, column, and set the intended column to =CLEAR(X#) of the hidden column, and it worked great. A bit of a weird solution, I admit. :)
