I can't imagine why you would doubt Andrews' story, when this sort of thing has happened time and again. All of this ado about getting the name of the Microsoft employee who is spreading "misinformation" is a bit like setting out to kill the messenger. That seems as pointless as confronting the Gartner Group with protests about the conclusions they've drawn from Microsoft's actions (or inaction).

Here's another glaring piece of evidence I came across in my most recent update of Microsoft VFP Marketing references (see http://www.ideaxchg.com/ix07/vm/_sys/toccontu.htm#VFPMktgRefsMS). Take a look at the dates on the items listed under Microsoft Visual FoxPro News & Reviews. Then take a look at what's listed on those pages, and you'll see it's even older still. And what a paltry list it is!

Do you think that VFP's announced removal from Visual Studio is generally perceived as a step up for VFP? On the contrary, however technically justified this decision may be, the situation cries for some serious PR, and Microsoft's delay is inexcusible. And please, let's not confuse marketing to the VFP community with marketing to the rest of the world. It's time to stop talking about "rumors" and start recognizing that these are the prevailing conclusions of reasonable people. Inaction speaks louder than words, too.
