I would be interested in learning more about this subject.

Presently, my program maintains a file that contains shipping address/contact information that is used by FedEx and UPS computers in one of my clients shipping department.

At end of day processing FedEx/UPS sends their shipping info. back to an intermediate file that I in turn use to post to another file that customer service uses to keep track of tracking #'s, ship dates, shipping costs, etc.

The UPS computer is pretty easy to set up because ODBC features are built into their software. I can select any field my client wants from the UPS database in a matter of minutes.

I'm pretty much "in the dark" concerning the FedEx setup. They sent a programmer in to make custom changes. All I did was furnish the name/structure of the intermediate table and he did the rest.

I really need to know more about their system to gain more control of the process. For example, we're now in what might be called the "beta" stage of the FedEx integration. Changes have to be made. If I had control, I could just make a change to my program. As it is, the client has to schedule the FedEx programmer and me to come to their site to make the changes. A big PITA.
