Not always. It depends a lot on the type of index tags you have set up on a table. It may be faster to this:
SEEK {condition}
SCAN WHILE {condition}
{perform operation}
ENDSCAN
But I would choose to use a SQL delete or update rather than REPLACE if you cannot go straight to the record(s) you need to work on.
