According to Crystal's developer help documentation, it is indeed possible for you to create a COM/automation server and have Crystal be able to access methods from it. I have no idea if it works with a VFP COM object, but the documentation sites VB and C++ libraries as being readable.

If you go to http://support.crystaldescisions.net and poke around, I'm sure you will be able to find something in their knowledge base about it.
