Strange behavior in the MsgSvc function and MsgSvc table.

Cloned a table entry and made some changes. Reindexed the table. In the code called the MsgSvc function with the new entry key followed by a text var like so: =MsgSvc('NewEntry',lcText) When MsgSvc executes it returns the display but instead of the title specified in cTitle it returns 'MsgSvc'. Looking at the MsgSvc table it also adds the string in lcText to the table in the cKey field as if MsgSvc does not find 'NewEntry' in the table. Issuing a Seek in the Command window finds 'NewEntry'. I'm at a loss to explain it. Anyone have any ideas?
