I run java as a backend to a CRM system called Vantive (client, not web). When I call some methods in a class I get a Spurious Exception message and it bombs. I don't even get the first line (a write to the log) run or a decent error message.

Other methods run fine and the classes compile fine. I've looked at java.sun but they don't seem to have anything relevant.

I can see what is being called at it's fine. Nothing obvious. Vantive don't seem to know either.

Any ideas on where to look?
