>M-16 jams too easy and the .22 cartridge doesn't have great stopping power. Think AR-15 or AK-47. :-)

John;

Napalm works great. Just stay out of the way though. I remember when they took away our M-1's and we were issued M-16's. They had just pulled the M-14's because Marines would break them too easily in Bayonet practice. We were told that the .223 shell killed anyone ever hit with it. This was 1966 and they were trying to pump us up.

I did see an interesting test. Two WWII helmets were placed 100 yards away - each with a cabbage inside. One shot from a M1 Garande went through the first pot (helmet) and left a clean hole through both sides (entry and exit) as well as the cabbage. The M-16 was fired at the second pot and had a very small jagged hole on entry and a very ugly large hole on exit. The cabbage looked like cole slaw! Not a pleasant sight and the thought was a nightmare of what this would do to any living thing.

The AR-15 is nothing more than a commercial version of the M-16. I still like my M-1.

In WWII, an average of 400 rounds was expended to kill one enemy. In Viet Nam, an average of 65,000 rounds was used for the same purpose.

Tom
