Can anyone help

I have recently developed a Visual Foxpro Ver. 6 software product that worked fine until I tried using a HP840 deskjet printer to print reports. The system hangs when I attemped to print or even preview a report. I found that all the new HP?40 or new EPSON ?80 printer drivers do the same. My prefered op sys is Win98. What is wrong. Please help as I find it hard to get a printer to work and the package is useless unless I can suply a printer with it.
