IMO, this CLR stuff is in preparation for bigger things to happen that is for Cross-platform resolution if it need so. It's the timing 'WHEN???' I guess. Today, cross-platform may not be a big problem yet for MS because of browsers, but they readied themselves with CLR just in case. But I am not saying that the purpose of CLR is exclusive only for that issue.
