The application I'm working on now is a web-based database app.
There will be the web server, the app server and the database server - physical machines, at least one of each
My understanding is that the application COM servers that are called from the web server will need to be registered as proxy applications on the web server to run on the app server.
The servers are all Win2K servers.
I can export packages from the Component Services to an MSI COM installation app which I can then run on the web server. I am going to have a truckload of app COM servers and if we add another web server, or for some reason need to re-register these proxy apps on the web server, it's going to take days to do this way.

Is there a way to automate the proxy registration process?

Also, when the client (e.g., web server) calls a COM server on the app host (e.g., app server), does it go on the CLSID or the ProgID?
I just want to make sure that the different COM apps (VB and VFP) don't regenerate CLSIDs.

I am reading up on all of this, but I figured I'd cast a line this way for these questions as well.
