>My question : Is the -2147483647 value a common value for registry entries and if not, how do I acquire this value ? This is passed to the registry.prg as a parameter in nRegKey in the majority of the functions.

Yes it is. The constant associated with it is HKEY_CURRENT_USER (which you'll see when you open the registry in RegEdit. If I recall correctly, the default for the class is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. You'll find the constants in the registry.h file that's associated with the class.
