My guess is that you don't have a wait state, i.e. READ EVENTS, in your code.

I usually put it after I activate my main menu. Some do it after DO FORM.

Making a form modal creates a wait state but it's very limiting. Try making the form nonmodal and put a READ EVENTS after you do the form and see if it works.
