Yes, my stuff has generally been unfriendly to the design environment, so I am trying to teach my application object to be more respectful of others. So you would recommend HIDE/SHOW over DEACTIVATE/ACTIVATE?

I have further issues along this vein regarding a custom design environment toolbar...I will start another thread next week (unless you want to knock it around now...however, it is Friday)
