I just finished an app that did barcode reading. We used a scanner that interfaced into the keyboard port. It acts just like someone was typing from the keyboard. The only thing we had to watch out for was to make sure the focus always went back to the initial barcode entry field when they did anything with the form. I believe the scanner we used was made by Caere but any scanner that interfaces to the keyboard should work. We have ours configured to append a Tab character to the scanned code to automatically move to the next field.
