I'm just about to start setting up a web project (probably with ASP and Vb Script) which I have just been playing arounf with. This is a Data intensive site where reps will be inputting Purchase orders.

Theere are a no. of Site Locations,each with a Pc and some local processing. Purchase orders will be entered centrally to the Web Server by 'roving' reps but will be allocated to a particular site.
This bit I think I can handle!!

Now, the Site Locations need to be updated with their 'Purchase orders' from the Central Web Server on a regualr basis.... around about every 20 minutes.


Is it praccial to do this and I woulod welcome any comments.
I was thinking along the lines of having a Program (either at the Web Server or at each Site) which would Poll every twenty minutes and maybe email the file of Purchase orders that need to go to each site. Once thy have been received at the site, an 'Update' program could be run to upfate the Site Purchase Orders.

I would welcome any comments on whether this is a good idea, or if there are any tools out there to do this sort of thing..... bear in mind that I have dabbled just a bit in ASP but have gone some simple applications working.
