Kim,

You should have no problem cutting and pasting between word and VFP. The "tiny little box" you see is probably the default display for a memo field. The contents are edited by doing a Ctrl-Home when on the field which opens an edit window. A better way would be to make the field an editbox on the form (if you have room) and then you would actually see the contents (depending on the size of the editbox).
