yes i did try that Bret and it didn't work

The thing is that ie5 by default is acually opening the file if the extension is known to windows, either if it's word or txt file or any other known to windows file...
My goal is to make a link, so that when you click on it -- instead of just opening the contents of the text file in another window it will ask me if I would like to save the text file on my disc.
you can try your link with a text file and you will see that it will just open up the file...
