I think I may have found my problem. After your tip on SUM() operating on the resulting set instead of the source table, I found that there are two records in the table named in the last Left Join which qualify for the "on" phrase. I missed that somehow early on. If not for your suggestion I may have chased my tail for quite a while. Thanks for the dope slap - I needed it.
