I highly recommend doing all check outs/ins manually in VSS not in the VFP pm. If for no other reason, you will have performance problems with project manager integrated Source Control over a WAN. Same goes for VB (or any other dev environment) files. It's so easy to use VSS why mess around with project manager source control integration?

We tried VSS when it first came out, but opted in favor of PVCS. We found compatibility issues with PVCS that didn't improve with upgrades, and working with it was a pain. We discontinued using it. I don't know how much compatibility was caused by Microsoft 'tweeking' their software through various upgrades, as they have often been found doing, making compatibility with 3rd party competative products problematic.
