TO ALL of you guys who gave suggestions about the To Many Files open problem I had in VFP v.3, IT HAS BEEN RESOLVED!!!

Incorporating your suggestions & a little more from my own research, here's what I did:

Changed Smartdrv to the following:

c:\dos\smartdrv.exe \x 2048 512 /b:1024

Changed FILE HANDLES line in net.cfg file to 200 and put FILES line in config.sys to 20. Previously, there was no FILE HANDLES line in the net.cfg file, but files were 200 in the config.sys.

They haven't had a problem since.
