Hi all,

Since a point in time I don't remember exactly (could easily be from 6 to 10 months) I am having a problem that is driving me crazy when opening a project (under version control of VSS) under VFP. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to open it, meanwhile the VFP window locks and appears to be "Not responding" in the Task manager. I consider the project as a big one (it has 169 forms, 26 programs, 8 class libraries, 5 icon files, 1 bmp file and 1 menu).

I don't know why I feel this is a problem between VFP and VSS. We have VSS server 5.0 (english edition) installed on the server (which has Win NT Server 4.0 SP 5, english edition too). Our client PCs run VFP 5.0 spanish edition and VSS client 5.0 english edition (last SP available installed on both cases)over Win NT WKS 4.0 SP 5. I get freezed and find myself waiting when:
- VFP (or me) opens the project;
- I regenerate the project;
- I generate an executable.

Every time I have to make changes to the source code on this project it takes me about 30 minutes only in opening it and generating the exe! Things I think are affecting are:
- VFP and VSS are different language editions;
- Too many files controlled by VSS;
- Too many file versions controlled by VSS.

I tried deactivating the antivirus software with no results. Also tested to discard a network-related problem so I tried working alone one day late at night (just the server and me) but the problem persisted (also checked for unnecessary network protocols: none found on my PC neither on the server).

If someone has run into this kind of problem before or has a suggestion please help me.
