Hi Jim

I guess the problem I see is points were awarded for an answer that did not fix the problem. No one actually resolved the problem. Does the point system permit revoking the points in such cases?

Does anyone monitor the threads involving rewarding of points to determine if the advice warrants the points? If not, there is little significant value in the points. Searching in this thread for the points as indication of the correct answer will also fail. Can others award negative points when the offered advice is so obviously wrong? That would readily balance the scales.

I know Larry Miller is a very talented guy and its no surprise that he's racked up so many points. He's helped me with really difficult problems (prior to the points system). He'd be given an MVP in my books because of his good advice (his Value), not because he participates in every thread (his Verbosity). Can the person receiving points reject them?

Its like a joke I heard once, every driver should be issued a rubber-suction cup dart gun with their licenses. When someone does something wrong they get shot in the trunk by the other drivers around them. The police just have to pull over the people with 10 or 12 of these darts on their car. What about the people who actually do something really correctly on the road? They get no recognition.

Give credit where its deserved, in this case none was deserved.
