I've also noticed that most apps run faster under Linux, allbeit not the same code and not as bloated, in many cases. And, there are exceptions. Corel Word Perfect Office 2000 ran equally slow and kludgy in both WinXX and Linux. Under Linux it was simply EXEs running under WINE. That combo lasted less than an hour on my box.
I guess that if I could create all these user friendly and intuitive apps to run natively on Linux, I could claim to be a REAL programmer, huh? <g>
At it is, all I use the linux box for is to dish up HTML to web browsers
