>I was wondering how long an MCP certification is good for. I could not find an answer on MS site. I was planning to take exam 70-029(SQL 7) but now think I should direct my attention toward 70-229(SQL 2000) Does it matter which I take. "Besides a litte more effort for me to obtain SQL 2000!"

Miles,
The certification lasts as long as the test does. Having said that, I suggest you go for the SS2000 tests. When the tests for a newer version are available, MS usually retires the previous version's tests. When that happens, you have a grace period to get certified in the new version or lose your certification.

Good luck!
