I'd agree. In fact, I saw an email address on television almost immediately after I'd posted my previous.
Due to the complexity of the problem, I think that the only viable approach would be one similar to the one the folks who worked on the Foxtools ValidPath() function. The documentation says that it doesn't claim to be able to catch every invalid path, but will not reject a legal one. I think that's about the best we can hope for regardless.
