Last year, vegetable gardening was a disaster with the drought here in Florida and the fact that my tomato seedlings apparently came pre-infected with hornworms.

This year, same drought, but I have followed an aggressive twice a day watering schedule and added a lot of moisture retaining mulch. I have also been spraying Sevin (kills 140 different pests and is safe) ever 3-4 weeks.

And the result? I have a Sweet 100 vine tomato plant that is 7+ feet tall and staked out to about 6 ft in width. There are, by this AMs count, 320+ tomatoes on this single plant. Of those, about 20 are ripening now and the first 5 will be ready for picking later this afternoon.

So, for me at least, this is a great vegetable gardening season so far. Any one else out there into this?
