Yes, MS Project can be automated. There's a MSKB article at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q143/2/97.asp -- it's written for MS Project 4.1, but, if memory serves me correctly, it should work similarly for current versions.

After you get past the basics, your next step is to find the VBA Help file, as in VBAPJx.chm, where x is the version of Project. It should be in the same directory as the Project executable.

There isn't a lot of documentation on automating Project; but with a little patience, it can be done. I did it (3-4 years ago)...unfortunately, I no longer have access to MS Project.
