>Mother's Day is slow because (duh!) men who don't want divorces are home with their wives and kids :-)

Actually, this mother of two (three if you count the one I married! <G>) had a WONDERFUL time on Mother's Day. I finally got what I've been wanting for YEARS: to go to the bathroom ALL BY MYSELF with no one on the other side of the door telling me the phone is ringing, or that one sibling is hitting another, or similar "information." Personally, I enjoyed it!

HOWEVER, my husband was NOT THRILLED, nor were my kids. My mom and mom-in-law thought it awful of me to abdicate my "mother" status. I made it up to them (I think) by celebrating the NEXT weekend, when the restaurants aren't filled with everyone else taking their moms out to dinner. It's a FEATURE, yeah, that's it -- a feature!

>Fine. Then what is wrong with April? Or June? Just not Mother's Day! Isn't it funny that guys with kids understand this and unmarried people don't? Some day, Markus, some day you'll understand :-)

Just don't mess with March Madness (which covers almost all of March and the first week of April!) And I also agree with Tamar that April and especially May are filled with all kinds of year-end stuff for schools (even the year-round schools). The September conference in San Diego isn't a great time for me, as it's four weeks into the school year, meaning teacher conferences, fundraisers, and numerous volunteer meetings.

If we have a conference when the kids are out of school, then I might need to bring them, which curtails my, ahem, "networking" at the Jam Sessions and other, er, "late night sessions." If it's during the school year, then my husband hates doing the "mom" thing, and has ruffled feathers for a week or two after I get home. IOW, NO TIME is a good time. So, IMO, schedule it when it's cheapest (so we can get the good parties <VBGgt).
