You have been soooo helpfull. Your advice of making the form a top level form did the trick and the operation is now seamless to the user. Kudos to you and many thanks.

For others that may need the information, after I got the .exe built I registered it at the DOS prompt by:
ULVBPC /REGSERVER
Then I went into the Visual Basic project that was to call the function and created a reference to the ULVBPC type library, changed the Dim and method call, and recompiled the .DLL.
