All the source control products will have problems with binary files. The best solution in this case is to not allow multiple checkouts. As for Ted's book, it is not VFP specific.
>We've been using VSS with VFP on a fairly large project with offsite developers (using SourceOffsite). We seem to be having problems with VSS losing code (or reverting back to earlier versions in one case). This just leads to a lack of confidence in VSS being the best solution for us. With the way VSS handles VFP files (vcx's, scx, etc are binary) we can't take advantage (or can we?) of all the features (branch/merge for example) where VSS cannot work on a file because it's 'binary'. We've changed the file properties to 'text' and tried to merge 2 versions together and just got a mess. Can using VSS with VFP just be used for code repository and management. Is anyone else using it with the full feature suite? Please, let me know
