I have a VFP 6.0 form with FaxPlus to fax a .TXT file.

The problem I am having is that after the FaxPlus software dials a fax machine, it takes multiple redails before it finally connects and sends the fax. I tried changing settings, but no help.

I have a Timer control on the form with the Interval set at 500. I tried various settings up to 30000 with no change in the timeout problem (FaxPlus error 32001) after connecting to a fax.

I also added a DialingTime property code and set it at various settings with no change in the outcome.

I also display the Hangup Code from FaxPlus on the form and it returns a 36 when the fax does not go through. I didn't see &H36 on the list of codes so I don't know if the number 36 being returned is a decimal or hexadecimal value.

Any idea what might cause me not connect on the first try. I have the form set to retry and redial up to 9 times if earlier attempts fail. I usually connect by the 7th attempted redial.

I have yet to have it connect on the first try. The best I've done so far is connection on the 2nd attempt. I also ran this same software at another office and had the same sort of problem, but there I was able to connect on the 5th try every time. So I don't think it's caused by the phone and/or fax lines.

Thanks for the help. I don't know what's wrong. A couple of years ago I connected on the first try every time, but then I was running a 28K modem vs. the 56K modem I am using now. That might explain why it takes more tries to successfully send a fax, but it should be able to work on the first try with the faster modem too.
