On the other other hand (lol) VFP connectivity with the rest of Office in OfficeXP is greatly enhanced via the new VFP OLE DB provider. I haven't tested the new Access yet, however, but I imagine with the OLE DB provider that will cease to be an issue as well.

I discovered this KB article while looking at other ones that explain that most Access code and menu functions that export to Excel are creating an Excel 95 file, which Access 97 can't import. Even in Access 2002 that is still the case. (The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet method lets you choose the version number, in case anyone was wondering.)
