Today I received the latest copy of the ever shrinking FoxPro Advisor
magazine. While it shows there are 42 pages of material (excluding the
front and back of the last page), I counted just 25 pages of actual content.

Pages 19 through 26 were advertisements for the DevCon 2001 conference sponsored by Microsoft and ... FoxPro Advisor. Unfortunately, I don't have an extra $1,095 so I won't be in attendance.

Over the past year and half a co-worker and I submitted four tips to FPA.
None were published, nor did we receive any type of acknowledgement. In addition, I submitted an article for publication about a year ago, only to be
told after the second editing cycle it "still needed a lot of work." Prior to submitting the article, I had several highly respected VFP developers review the content for accuracy and readability. I know of another VFP developer who has had several articles published that feels as frustrated as I do. We both feel the editing process at FPA is too stringent for most authors.

Here are the total number of pages (including ads) and cover story for the months of either June or July since 1995

June 1995 - 82 Ease Data Integration wiht OLE
July 1996 - 82 Is your software being stolen?
July 1997 - 74 Customize VFP's new ActiveX controls
June 1998 - 82 First look VFP 6.0
July 1999 - 74 Using Components
July 2000 - 50 Grids and Forms: data-driven approach
June 2001 - 42 Encryption

I hope that FPA is going to take some steps to improve the magazine. Instead of ignoring their readers' input, they need to acknowledge things like receipt of tips. Submission of new articles should be encouraged and assisted.

The above numbers do not lie. Something needs to happen at FPA.
