MAPI is not a COM interface, it's an API style DLL.

Outlook and Exchange do support a COM interface as well as the MAPI interface.

>CDO is a set of the COM objects used to connect to the mail server applications (Exchange server, Outlook, other that supoprt MAPI interfaces) and browse/change anything you want, include folders, messages, send new messages, check for new mail, read all messages from folder etc. I tried them and they work very well. MAPI controls approach is somewhat obsolete, I guess. Take a look to the MSDN to read about the CDO.
