Well, everyone needs a rest once in a while and the void has to be filled. :) Although, if there's more than one of us, does that imply we're in a nuthouse?

<snip> What have I missed? Otherwise, Please shoot me and put me out of my misery.

Yep, view is fine, everything I can think of, I've checked.... It's the lv_users view that Mere M creates. I was in a bit of a hurry with the original post, so I'll go into more detail now. I modified the generic users table adding clastname and cfirstname fields using StoneField (which did a great job of updating all the views). I looked at the lv_users view which has all fields updateable and in the view. I then went to the cuserform in cforms and first, copied the txlFullName, then ran the builder on the copy and changed all the interesting tidbits with the controlsource in the textbox being v_users.cfirstname (everything is identical to the original except for the control source). Thus done, if I then run main and start the app, with the data session window open so I can look at the tables and the views, when I run the users form, I can edit the fields, can see the fields updated in the view, but when I hit save, only the fields that were on the form initially, (fullname, userid, password) get updated to the table. And as long as the form is open, the info stays, but as soon as I close it it's gone, which also tells me the data isn't traveling from the view into the table, in case I had any doubts. I looked at the refbizobj but I can't see anything special that would prohibit the update or is selective about the update at all, but I've only been working with MM about a month. I guess my next step will be to start from scratch on a form and see if I can make one of my own work following the directions in the guide and then go back and see if I can make sense out of it. thanks!

Laurisa
