Zlatko,

It seems I had similar user complains when they migrate from FoxPro for DOS.
What I did was I did NOT create a reports, but included original DOS reports instead. VFP can call and preview DOS report:

repo form _DOSreport preview

There are other options too.
If report file is text file, then you can call the plain DOS editor to view it.
Manipulations with VFP report fonts may help too.
Also you can customize preview window, but it will need to include resource file (usually it is Foxuser.dbf) in the distribution package.

Well, print preview is rather unfriendly scrolling up and down, zoom is useable only in one mode, others (75%, 25%) are useless.
It depends also what the default printer is and some drivers (and I saw a lot of them) are also problematical.

My old DOS application only "reports" to a TXT file and then I let user to preview this file, scrolling up,down, left and right and it was really very simple and clear. Pressing PgDn several times make users see all the report lines, but here in VFP preview PgDn-ning isn't enough. It's always seen only the top or the bottom of the report, so we must really concentrate where we are and I think it annoys a lot. My users migrate from DOS application to Windows and I'd like to give them better tools or at least as simple as it was in old application.

So, print preview is only one solution, but not good enough.

That's what I mean about it and I asked - what do others use for this job?

Zlatko.
