thanks for the web site. i did EXACTLY what they suggest and i'm still getting a value of 0 which is what i would expect based on one of the documents that you suggest i read. i have some conflicting documentation but i am inclined to believe ms web site document. in any case, it appears that the only solution is a2k. i should be able to get a copy tomorrow and hopefully that will be the answer..... thanks
