Do you have a copy of Hackers guide? if not then ask if the company will buy it
It's full of little bits of advice about this kind of thing... he might heed the advice in Hackers Guide (unless he hates that as well).
At lease he could take it home and learn some new techniques himself (may relieve some of his paranoia), that will leave you with the .CHM file which is all you need anyway.
