Hi!

We do this manually if needed, or just split the class library. Really, rarely 2 developers require edit the same VCX, though this problem occurred before quite often. If this happen, the most exeriensed in VSS developer do following carefully:

make a copy of the VCX/VCT file
make VCX/VCT file wirteable
edit whatever class you want
after another developer finished changes, check out that library, than move the edited class from the copy of VCX/VCT file into the normal VCX file. than check in.

Above scheme worked, though it takes about 1-2 minutes to follow this scheme + time to wait until another developer check in file.

HTH.

>I am working in a shop that uses VSS and we have a custom class library that is used by multiple programmers. This creates conflicts when one programmer has it checked out to work on one class in the library and another programmer is needing to access the library to modify a different class. Does anyone know a good scheme for handling this situation ?

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs

It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
