If you go to 'Search' on the left panel and enter "system serial number" you'll find a couple threads on this issue.
Be forewarned that the Achille's Heel of all of this is when your users should reformat the drive and the ID changes. You might want to augment any methods you create with a file that also holds the System ID. This would give you a beginnings of a dual-key system that would be stronger than simply using the System ID.
