Okay, so you must have a laserprinter which can't cope with first a @ 10,0 Say ... and next a @ 4,0 Say ... I mean, laserprinters usually can handle this (skipping back the line-pointer) whereas matrix-printers abviously can't (maybe some can by memory-operations); IMO this is what it may come to. But never mind.

My question now is, how do you know that the ??? " " does nothing ? it should do nothing !! except for installing the raw mode. Remember, I coincidentally "heard" the printer starting up but print nothing, and which is stupid but works like this for this printer. So, the matrix for sure doesn't make noises, and when it does, it prints too. I guess your laser just puts it in memory and doesn't warm up for it.

So let's assume for now that what you interpret as "nothing" just works fine; the ??? " " installed raw-mode;
My golden rule of before however seems to be disobayed :) Never use the ??? again ! okay, apart from after an Eject which I didn't know myself before.
So, your control-codes should be put in with ? (I think you'll need ?? but I'm not sure whether that's allowed for more of those after eachoter). BTW we put them in with Say's, which shouldn't make a difference.

Thus Rodd, when you follow my sequence exactly, what goes wrong at this moment ?
