Hello Mike,

I agree that the SET KEY is probally the way to go, SQL if the recordset is small and he is using a backend would be pretty quick also. I did not realize that the grid would not respect the rushmore optimazation even though the SET FILTER command does. Can you point me to some documentation on this?

I am not a big fan of SET FILTER myself, probally a hold over from the old days when it was VERY SLOOOOW. Just trying to answer the question asked.....

>The filter optimization will not help with a grid. Grids are not Rushmore aware. SQL is optimized, but there's the delay of pulling the records. If he can live with potential complexity, he should use SET KEY.
