HEAR, HEAR! I remember when I could run a BBS and messageboard on two floppy disks and no hard disk. (Apple II+) and now with a range of development software, and all the other gee gaws I love to not have to live without, I find that I only have 10 G or so on my 40 GIG drive in my current workstation. Gee, where did I get that habit of COPYING the CDROMS to a folder before doing an install? Meybe it was OFfice2000 which askes for the installation CDROM just to do a hotfix or an upgrade. Anyone remember how we cussed Printmaster for requiring the CDROM to do about anything at all? Now with the newer versions of Windows popping up on the horizon, it looks like your install CDs will have to travel with yout computer, instead of being kept in a safe place. How soon will it be that you absolutely cannot install software without a web connection so that the application (or even the install application) can call home a few times and add to someone's marketing database?

A case in point is A wonderful application, Quicken, which regularly communicates your most private information back to not only its makers, but to its advertising partners as well. I use it, but never online, and have ZoneAlarm set to prohibit it from accessing the net, unless I specifically allow it.

Relax, Boss. We will meet the deadline! What? You want to add MORE? What do you mean, Over Budget?
